• Flatbread from Scratch

If you missed me making flatbread from scratch yesterday on Instagram live, you have no one but yourself to blame. I also choose the path of forgiveness which is why I am here uploading a recipe for it. This recipe only requires three ingredients on a base level. If you would like to make it more tasty, feel free to do more with it.

When I say make it tasty, I mean optimizing it to be more garlicky, more buttery, maybe even slightly sweet or you can just leave it plain. I personally prefer the garlic butter version. If you do not like garlic, you can just make the buttery version. In these covid times, it is important to learn simple recipes like these. They would save you on a rainy day when you don’t feel like cooking too much or even at all.

Does your lockdown period even count if you have not made some form of bread? I have been scrolling on social media and I see people making banana bread, plantain bread and even attempting Agege bread. Kudos to you all. I would like to see your experiments so send me some pictures so I can salivate at the very least. If you are on the bread wagon, you might want to try this recipe to add to your back pocket.

One thing to note is that you must not substitute the plain unsweetened yoghurt or greek yoghurt for the flavoured sweetened yoghurt. That completely changes the taste of your flatbread. If you are feeling adventurous, maybe give it a try and let me know but I can’t vouch for it. Without further ado, enjoy this simple flat bread recipe.

    RECIPE FOR FLATBREAD

    Ingredients

1 cup of All purpose Flour

2 teaspoons of Baking Powder (not baking soda)

3/4 cup of Plain Yoghurt (You may not need everything – Add a bit at a time)

    Pinch of Salt

    Method

In a bowl, mix your flour with your salt and baking powder.

Slowly pour in your yoghurt and mix until a slightly wet dough is formed

    Cut dough into smaller balls

Roll around on a lightly floured surface.

With your rolling pin, roll your flatbread out thinly and set aside.

If you are making your bread, garlic butter style, mince your garlic and add to your melted butter then smear on one side of the bread.

Heat up your non-stick pan and place your rolled out dough buttered side down on low to medium heat.

Flip to brown on the other side as well and take out when both sides are browned.

    Serve warm.
