I love apple pie. It is one of the greatest food inventions ever. It tastes even better when it is warm and has ice cream on top… yummy. So here’s a practical tweakable recipe for you to try:
Ingredients
- 2 pre-baked pie crusts (sold at your local grocery store)
- 4-8 apples peeled, core removed and sliced (granny smiths are preferred or you can mix granny smith and other types)
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 1/2 cups 7 up
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 table spoon butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions
- Mix white and brown sugar, sliced apples, 7up, cinnamon, nutmeg in a bowl
- Let sit for 30 minutes
- While waiting line the baking bowl with a crust pressing on the edges and the bottom. (baking bowl can be foil bowl sold at local grocery store)
- Pre-Heat oven to 450F
- After the 30 minutes drain the mixture from the apples and cook in a pot till it is syrupy
- Add the apples to the baking bowl
- Pour the syrup on the apples
- Melt the butter and also pour on the apples
- Cover the pie with the 2nd crust and press the edges of the top and bottom crusts to seal
- Cut some slits on the pie crust to allow heat escape (5 is a good number)
- Place in oven at 450F for 15- 25 minutes till crust is golden brown
- Then reduce heat to 350F for 35-55 minutes till you can hear the apples start to bubble
- Remove the pie place on a rack to cool for 45 minutes to an hour
- Consume!
