Deviled Eggs are the perfect appetizer because it can be served in many different ways with very different variations. I once saw a food blogger use egusi in their deviled eggs. While I am not that adventurous, I do applaud the courage. This christmas is the time to wow your guests. I mean Jollof rice and chicken are fine. However, sometimes step out of your comfort zone and prove to your guests that you have been following food blogs and the result is in the menu you come up with. This is very simple and like I mentioned previously, you can add different things to it like mashed fish, shrimp, or any other protein you prefer which is well cooked and soft obviously. I went a bit plain with mine to give you a platform to start your experimentation. Go forth and experiment with your deviled eggs.
Recipe for Deviled Eggs
Ingredients
4 medium sized eggs
2 tablespoons of salad cream
1/4 teaspoon of chilli powder
1/4 teaspoon of chicken seasoning
Method
In a pot of boiling water, place your eggs and bring to boil for about 15-20 minutes so they are hard boiled.
Peel the eggs and cut into halves. With a teaspoon take out the yolks of the eggs and place in a separate bowl.
Add the salad cream, seasoning and chilli powder to the bowl with the egg yolk and mix properly until mixture is creamy.
If you have a pastry bag, pour your mix into the bag and squeeze out a bit of the content into the egg whites but if you do not have a pastry bag, a regular plastic bag would do. Pour the content in and cut a small hole with a pair of scissors and squeeze the content into the egg whites.
You can add extra things like cooked shrimps, shredded chicken or anything else you like. You can add them at this stage and serve.
