• Scotch Egg Recipe

Scotch egg is also known as egg devil and it is made up of hard boiled egg that is wrapped around in sausage meat and coated with Flour or breadcrumbs and then deep fried. Did you know that scotch eggs are originally an English dish and this recipe was created by Fortnum & Mason of Piccadilly in 1738? This is a popular snack in Nigeria that we all grew up on. It is widely known in other countries but has been very integrated into the Nigerian food culture that sometimes we think we created it. I remember the drives to Mr Biggs to pick up a hot scotch egg on our way to school. Those were indeed great memories. I hope you enjoy this simple scotch egg recipe. Ensure the sausage meat you pick is the same texture as the one shown below if not your scotch egg may fall apart.

You can definitely use beef sausage meat. Finding the sausage meat is usually the issue. Some of the meat shops would have it though.

        Hi Bushra,
Usually people that are skilled in packing sausages are usually the ones that make sausage meat. I have no idea how to.
